Information Regarding Consideration of Drug Testing Policy

The Board of Education continues to evaluate the feasibility of a policy which would allow for random drug testing of students.

After many months of discussion and investigation, the Board has narrowed its focus to a program that would be 100% voluntary and would allow parents or guardians of any student at CMHS to enroll their child.  

The purpose of the voluntary program will be to (1) provide students with another incentive to just say “no” to drugs, (2) allow the school district and parents to partner in an effort to reduce illicit drug use and improve student wellness, and (3) provide an opportunity to evaluate the logistics of such a program to determine if a future mandatory program is feasible to implement.

Before making a final decision on the implementation of this voluntary program, the Board would like to receive as much public comment on this issue as possible. Comments regarding the policy under consideration can be sent to the Board via e-mail at the following address:
